Toxin-Free DIY Natural RAW Honey Cleanser
Brighten, hydrate and rejuvenate your skin with this DIY raw honey cleanser
This recipe is completely natural and much gentler than the (toxic) chemical cleansers found in the drugstore.
Unlike commercial cleansers, which can strip the skin of its natural oils, honey can help balance the skin’s oil production, leaving your skin soft and moisturised, not dry or greasy.
Raw honey can also remove dirt and impurities that build up throughout the day without being too abrasive.
Now, before you run over to your kitchen cupboard and grab your honey jar, remember, you need to use raw honey to see the true benefits. Raw, unprocessed honey contains a multitude of health benefits that you won’t find in your usual store-bought kind. Manuka honey is my prefered choice, and although it can be quite expensive, I have noticed that it makes a huge difference from normal honey, so it’s well worth the small investment.
This DIY honey cleanser is super easy to make and use. I’d recommend applying it in the mornings, 2-3 times a week, to see the best results. And, although it can’t remove makeup, it can help clean and sanitize the skin, which will help prevent future breakouts.
Since using honey on my face I’ve stopped splashing out on expensive cleansers that make outlandish promises but deliver very little. The DIY route is also a lot more effective, not to mention, it’s much cheaper too!
Method for this DIY Natural Honey Cleanser
Take half a teaspoon of raw honey on your fingertips and rub until it’s warmed a little
You can add some warm water to create a smoother consistency, otherwise honey tends to be very sticky and difficult to wash off
Gently smooth other your entire face in circular motions to get the blood pumping
Rinse off with warm water and pat your face dry
For better results leave the honey cleanser on your face for an extra ten minutes before you rinse it off
Finish with a natural skin toner, which will wipe away any honey residue
Optional: add a drop of your favourite essential oil to it
Ingredient in the Spotlight: Raw Honey
There are so many beauty benefits of using raw honey that I’m surprised there aren’t more people using this magic ingredient.
Firstly, it contains antibacterial and probiotic properties, which can help prevent acne and breakouts. The natural enzymes found in raw honey can also help improve the skin’s texture (you could add it as an ingredient to a natural face scrub).
Honey is a great beauty all-rounder. Not only does it hydrate and rejuvenate dry, dull skin, but it can also balance the oil production of greasy skin too! It’s also extremely gentle, which means it’s completely safe for those with eczema and sensitive skin to use.
