My holistic healing philosophy
Everything that I write about and the advice I give is based around holistic living. Taking a holistic approach means that you don’t just concentrate on one aspect of your health – it’s a complete way of taking care of your mind, body and soul. The three are interlinked and cannot thrive without the other.
I strongly believe that the body itself is an integrated system and every organ and gland must work together in harmony to ensure it is able to heal effectively.
Put simply, if you suffer from hair loss, you need to look at other parts of the body as well to see if there is an underlying issue. Most often, there is.
This is the ethos I adopted when writing all my books and blog posts and you will notice this common thread among all of them.
Mainstream medicine, like a plaster, is good at covering and protecting a wound, but to truly heal (for good), we need to look deeper into the problem. That’s where holistic healing comes in. Once you begin looking at your overall health, rather than an individual symptom, you will have a better understanding of your illness and its root cause.
Remember, there is also no ‘textbook’ answer on how to improve your health. We are all different and have a unique set of needs, so we need to look at what works for US. We all have our own unique set of dietary requirements that are based on tastes, genetics, age, stress levels and medical history.
For me, it took some trial and error but I now know what can trigger my illnesses and what can help heal it. However, just because something works for me, doesn’t mean it will work on you too, so listen to your body and act accordingly to its needs.
The holistic healing approach works because it looks into all aspects of wellbeing – mental, physical and emotional. Being healthy isn’t just about eating well, it’s about incorporating good eating habits with enough movement, removing toxic chemicals where you can, a positive mindset and healthy relationships.
I want to educate and empower you by giving you the tools to make these positive changes in your life. It’s not about willpower and self-denial – my approach will show you how you can thrive by living more holistically in a way that’s fun and achievable. This works because I don’t obsess over one aspect of health – the holistic approach is about an all-encompassing lifestyle that takes on the spiritual, mental and physical aspect of health.
How my problems started
During my early teens, I had developed Bulimia Nervosa and became obsessed with losing weight and counting calories. It was a vicious circle of bingeing and barfing and I couldn’t stop. At the same time, I began to neglect my body to the point where I was abusing it with drugs and alcohol. I would spend most weekends partying hard, experimenting with drugs and drinking way too much.
As I reached my mid-twenties I decided enough was enough – if I continued down this path of self-destruction I wouldn’t live to see my 30th birthday. So I decided to get professional help and began therapy.
Although it helped me combat my eating disorder and subsided my drinking and social drug-taking, my health was not how it used to be. I could feel that something wasn’t quite right. My doctors couldn’t pinpoint the cause of why I was chronically ill and so I was left feeling confused, frustrated and worse than ever before.
A long holistic healing journey
At the time I was battling several chronic illnesses that had left me feeling depressed and zapped of all energy. I was in constant pain, unable to do any type of physical activity for a long time and my weight was soaring despite a lack of appetite. I didn’t realise it at the time but I was suffering from a range of chronic illnesses including leaky gut syndrome, Lyme disease, hypothyroidism, candida, adrenal fatigue, other digestive issues and later also suffered from thinning hair and hair loss.
Frustrated that the modern health care system had failed me I decided to take matters into my own hands and started looking into alternative therapies.
This is when my holistic wellness education really began.
During this decade-plus healing journey that I spent combating my illnesses, I accumulated a huge amount of knowledge. I read hundreds of books and spent thousands of hours looking into alternative therapies and natural remedies. My mind was blown – I knew about practices and therapies that even an average doctor would have no idea about! And what’s more, it was actually working!
That ‘aha’ moment
Armed with my newly found knowledge, I became determined to get my health back on track and be my own ‘health warrior’. During this time I was also suffering from thinning, lifeless hair that was falling out at a rapid rate. Enough was enough – I decided to take drastic action and switched to a completely natural, non-toxic, healthy and holistic hair care and health routine.
The results were astounding, and after a lot of hard work, my health and hair are now healthier and glossier than ever before!
I cut out all processed food, toxic sugars, dairy and wheat from my diet, threw out all my beauty and household products that were full of chemicals and committed to a calmer exercise regime three to five times a week.
I also made the decision to move from my hometown in Belgium to sunnier climes. The change in location was a revelation – the daily sunshine and clean air gave me a new lease of life and I finally felt revitalised and full of energy.
In terms of healing, I met with several open-minded doctors or health professional who advised me about the best practices for my hypothyroid and leaky gut. Before that, I had wrongly believed that the more medicine I took the more likely I would heal. (as per the advice of the so-called best endocrinologists)
My bathroom cabinets were packed with vitamins and an army of hormones that were actually making me feel worse!
Healing my body from the inside gave me peace and zest for life!
The change in my appearance and health was amazing. By taking the initiative and looking into a cleaner, holistic approach I had completely transformed my life from the inside out.
For the first time in over a decade, I felt full of energy and happiness. My digestive issues, inflammation, hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue were subsiding. Finally, I was eating well, sleeping properly and enjoying my life. My thicker, glossy hair gave me a huge boost of confidence and finally, I had enough energy to start exercising again. Working out left me feeling revitalised and energetic. My weight was back to normal and, for the first time, I had abs and muscles in all the right places! All these positive changes gave me a renewed enthusiasm for life and I wanted to tell everyone about it… including you.
My calling to empower others
I knew I couldn’t keep this ground-breaking information all to myself so I decided to share it through this website and with you.
I’ve worked with and met some of the most talented and knowledgeable holistic doctors to get the best tips on improving my health. I’ve gone on to publish several books on holistic health, beauty and living and created this health portal, which is packed with free information on all things health and wellness.
I wanted to create an effective, yet affordable way, for others to utilise the proven practices that I’ve used and developed over the past ten years to regain their health. I also wanted to be a voice for those who, like me, wanted to see a positive change in the healthcare and food industry by creating awareness.
My books offer a more detailed insight into how I healed myself naturally from various chronic illnesses, including hypothyroid, hair loss, inflammation, depression, exhaustion, Lyme disease and adrenal fatigue.
Through this website, I’ll be able to give you a behind-the-scenes look into my lifestyle – how I maintain healthy eating and exercise while staying away from toxic chemicals in my everyday products. I’m a massive advocate of a holistic lifestyle so the recipes, tips and advice you find here will be completely natural and clean. The hair care and beauty tips won’t contain any chemicals (in fact most of my haircare and skincare is made from DIY remedies or 100 % pure products).

Back then, when I was battling my illnesses, I wished so badly that there was something like this available for me.
I want to share my knowledge with you in the hopes that it might transform and improve your life the way it has for me. My biggest goal for Sandra Bloom is to serve and benefit my readers so that they too can become the best and healthiest version of themselves.
